Guest Speaker: Dr. J. P. Moreland | November 12 & 15

We’re excited to welcome Dr. J. P. Moreland to Calvary Church this November!

Dr. Moreland will join us for our regular Thursday night (11/12) and Sunday morning services (11/15), bringing a different message to each.

Dr. J. P. Moreland is Distinguished Professor of philosophy at Talbot School of Theology, Biola University. He received a B. S. in physical chemistry from the University of Missouri, a Th.M. in theology from Dallas Theological Seminary, an M.A. in philosophy from the University of California at Riverside, and a Ph.D. in philosophy at the University of Southern California. He has spoken and debated on over 200 college campuses and taught in 500 or so churches around the world. In addition, he has authored, edited, or contributed papers to ninety-five books, and published over 200 technical articles and popular pieces in magazines and newspapers. His books have been translated into ten different languages. In August 2016 Moreland was selected by The Best Schools as one of the 50 most influential living philosophers in the world, and was recently invited to debate at the Oxford Union Society. He has walked with Jesus for 55 years, been married to Hope for 45 years, and has two married daughters and five grandchildren.

Thursday, November 12 — "Victory Over Hardship: Learning to Be Formed, Not Deformed"
Dr. Moreland will share a brand-new message with us out of Romans 6, exploring how God meets us in seasons of struggle and uses them to strengthen our faith.

Sunday, November 15 — “Why Aren’t We Happy?”
He’ll continue our study in Matthew with a message from chapter 16, exploring what can get in the way of our wholehearted devotion to Christ and encouraging us to embrace Jesus’ call to follow Him.

The Thursday message is unique and will not be repeated on Sunday, so we encourage you to make time for both!

We look forward to learning and growing together.
